Breakfast at Benjamin’s for Paleo Diet Enthusiasts

Breakfast is a challenging meal when you follow a paleo or high-protein diet. Most common breakfasts are heavy on the carbs.

Grabbing a quick bowl of cereal at home? Breakfast cereals are almost entirely carb, with some having more than 45 grams of carbs in a serving. And most are made with refined grains and lots of added sugar.

Other typical breakfasts that require more thought and time for preparation, like pancakes or waffles, are also high carb. Maple syrup just adds another form of sugar.
If only you could go to a steakhouse for breakfast. At Benjamin Steakhouse, you can. While most steakhouses only open for lunch or dinner, Benjamin Steakhouse in New York city serves breakfast every day from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Located just a block from Grand Central, it’s easy to stop in to get a hearty, protein-heavy meal to start the day.

The breakfast menu includes pancakes, waffles, and French toast if your dining companions insist on a carb filled meal. But the major portion of the breakfast menu features high protein egg and meat dishes that suit the paleo or high protein eater.
You can have your basic eggs any style you want, or let Benjamin’s chefs whip up an omelet with ham, bacon, eggs, cheese, and veggies. If you want poached eggs, they come with roast beef hash. Fancier egg dishes are served with Hollandaise sauce and come with sides of Canadian bacon, spinach, or smoked salmon. For a real steakhouse breakfast, try the Eggs Benjamin with USDA prime steak. It’s served on an English muffin, but you can leave that aside if you prefer.

If you want breakfast steak without the sauce and the muffin, the menu includes Benjamin style prime NY strip steak with eggs. You can even get lamb chops with your eggs. Benjamin Steakhouse might be the only place in the city where lamb is a breakfast meat!

With those options on the Benjamin Steakhouse menu, you don’t have to hunt all over New York to find an appropriate paleo-style breakfast.
